Educating an Electorate

A suburban Pittsburgh community was riven by a rancorous
debate over the suspension…and ultimately, the reinstatement… of an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. In what was widely seen as referendum on the decision and the IB’s future, the race to replace five school board members promised to further divide the community. Forge professionals crafted a campaign for the pro-IB slate of candidates that focused on education, not enmity. In the primary election, all five won the nod from Democrats and Republicans alike.
